Vopak Terminal and Shell Refinery Laboratory Outsourcing Projects in Australia
Intertek Caleb Brett provides laboratory outsourcing services to a wide range of clients across the world. In Australia, two lab outsourcing projects include petroleum and chemical testing services.
Laboratory outsourcing services for Shell Refining (Australia):

Intertek was awarded outsourcing of Shell’s Newport Laboratory in Melbourne which handles lubricant blending and distribution quality control testing, along with aviation gasoline and jet fuel recertifications. Laboratory assets were transferred and assimilated into a nearby Intertek laboratory. Implementation planning with Shell representatives produced a seamless transfer with no obstructions to business operations.

Following the success of the Newport laboratory, Shell proceeded to outsource the 24 hour operation Clyde laboratory in Sydney. This is the first project in the Shell global network where an independent contractor provides all analytical services to support a full scale refinery.

“As part of Clyde's 'Best in Class' programme, an extensive review has been undertaken of the Clyde Laboratory operation. The results of this change will be a significant reduction in laboratory operating costs.”

Frank Willsdon
Refinery Manager

"...an expression of appreciation for the outstanding service delivered by Intertek Caleb Brett's Clyde Laboratory during an important project in Sydney. The full cooperation of Intertek Caleb Brett and its entire laboratory staff had been a crucial element in the successful management of the situation."

Dick Hosman
Economics and Scheduling Manager
Laboratory outsourcing for the Vopak Darwin Petroleum Storage Facility Project:

Intertek Caleb Brett have been selected by VOPAK to provide a range of laboratory, inspection and wharf services at the newly constructed petroleum storage facility in Darwin.

The project is scheduled to commence in late August 2005 when all petroleum storage will be moved to the new site and individual oil company terminals will be decommissioned.

Included in the laboratory management agreement will be the opportunity for Intertek Caleb Brett to conduct outside 3rd party analysis in an environment of expansion and development. This will include providing testing services to a bio-diesel plant that will commence construction at the site within the next few months.
