Coal Survey and Superintending Services:
- Survey and superintending services are offered to coal miners, shippers and buyers. Intertek provides independent quantity and quality determinations of coal stockpiles and run of mine samples though to shipment loading or discharging.
Coal Quality and Quantity Services:
- This service is conducted during the transfer of the ownership of the coal or when the coal is delivered from the seller to the buyer. This occurs at the time of embarkation. Intertek provides independent survey services to ensure the correct quantity of coal is determined. During the loading the coal will be sampled, in accordance with relevant International Standards such as ASTM, ISO, BSI, JIS.

Coal Quality and Quantity Witness:
- Intertek acts as a witness to accompany another appointed third party or surveyor. Intertek will ensure that proper procedures are carried out. Additionally Joint Surveys may be undertaken whereby two surveyors are appointed, by both seller and buyer.
Coal Quality Management:
- Quality Management is an all encompassing process to minimize losses due to poor handling or stockpiling of coal prior during the mining and pre-shipment stages.
Coal Quality Management Services include:
- Recommendations for coal stacking and maintenance of stockpiles
- Supervision of all stacking and reclaiming of coal at the stockpile
- Stockpile inspection and identification of potential self heating of the coal and recommendations to prevent spontaneous combustion
- Sampling, preparation and analysis of pit and channel and product samples
- Reporting of quality data or stockpile status on daily basis
- Coal blending recommendations before shipping to ensure quality specification are met
- Status, Progress and Recommendation reports are provided for stockpile status, laboratory analysis, shipment, production and much more.
Coal Cargo Client Protective Agent:
- Prospective buyers may be at risk by parties offering to sell coal that does not exist or is not theirs to sell. To prevent such practices, Intertek can be commissioned to ascertain the legal status of the seller, the correct owner of a mining concession and the quantity and quality of coal offered for sale.
