Intertek offers inspection and testing services to global industry standards in Poti, Georgia. The Poti Georgia petroleum and chemical laboratory is one of the largest independent testing facilities in the Caspian Sea region. Intertek provides extensive petroleum related testing and inspection services to support customers using the Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan (BTC) crude oil pipeline.

The laboratory is equipped to operate to international standards testing crude oil, petroleum, petrochemical products, LPG, sea water and drinking water. GOST, ASTM, API, IP and other recognised standard test methodologies and sampling procedures are utilised.

Inspection services at the Poti Georgia facility:

  • Quantity and quality analysis of ship tanks, road and rail tankers, tank container and transfer lines and shore tanks
  • Fast and accurate reporting of ship and shore quantities
  • Professional auditing and investigation of discrepancy or loss
  • Inventory auditing and analysis at storage locations
  • Inspection of pipelines, terminals and ship-to-ship transfers
  • Inspection is supported by experienced laboratory coordinators, quality control experts and senior laboratory management.
  • The 300 m2 Facility is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

The Poti Laboratory follows testing standards as set by ASTM, GOST, ISO, IP, DIN and others. The laboratory comprises specifically designed rooms for Gas Chromatography, light product and heavy products areas, spectroscopy and a specifically designed incoming sample registration room.
