Texas USA Petroleum Inspection Company Joins Intertek |

July 10, 2007: Houston USA, London UK - Intertek Group plc (Intertek), a leading international provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries, has acquired the assets of VIP, a privately held Petroleum Inspection and Testing company located in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA. VIP provides product quantity and quality inspection services for Oil and Gas companies. VIP is now part of the Intertek Oil Chemical and Agri Division (Caleb Brett). VIP provides support to oil companies along the Texan Gulf coast, which is a major route for cargo tankers. Specializing in ship-to-ship transfer (lightering), cargo inspection and terminal and pipeline support, VIP will increase the breadth and depth of Intertek's on-shore and off-shore services to major oil companies in the region. The CEO of VIP, William Vaden, has joined the Intertek management team and will continue to run the business, along with the rest of the VIP staff. VIP will be managed within Intertek’s Oil Chemical and Agri (Caleb Brett) business stream. Jay Gutierrez, President of Intertek Oil Chemical and Agri for the Americas, said “Intertek welcomes the addition of the VIP team, their experience will help to further develop the offshore lightering business and expanding our services both locally and globally for crude oil shipment inspections.” VIP provides petroleum inspection and testing services along the Texas Gulf Coast, and was formed in 1987 to provide superior customer service in the cargo inspection field.
