Deformulation is a method of analysing a formulated chemical product and separating it into its constituent components and identifying each compound and the quantity present so that the end result is a “recipe” for the product. With the development of increasingly complex product formulations, final products often contains dozens of components at varying structural and concentration levels. Clients can have many reasons for deformulation of products such as checking a product for banned substances, confirmation of product identity, benchmarking or even competitor product reverse engineering. We can also check if a competitor is infringing on your intellectual property by directly comparing the deformulation of the two products. We can help you understand the nature of the various components of a formulation, ingredient concentration and how these components and ingredients interact. Formulation studies are run for quality control issues, for evaluating market penetration of particular components, and to better understand particular formulations of interest. |
