Intertek MSG operates a high precision injection-moulding machine to help customers solve injection moulding problems and challenges. The Injection Moulder used electric injection and hydraulic mould control, and is available for customer use and consultancy. The injection moulding apparatus is equipped with a high-wear and high-temperature barrel and 25mm screw (plus spare). The injection moulder is capable of processing polymers at temperatures up to 400°C.

The machine is equipped with ISO tensile and impact bar moulds both of which have 3 different injection gates to study the effect of injection conditions on the final mechanical properties of, and/or the dispersion of filler particles in, the test material. Intertek handles samples from a wide range of clients and industries. Advantages for client research, development and trouble-shooting challenges come from the injection moulding capability combined with significant polymer and plastics expertise in the laboratory.
