Tensile Test Measurements for Plastics and Polymers

Tensile testing determines the breaking point when a specimen is stretched or elongated. Intertek tensile tests produce stress-strain diagrams, used to determine tensile modulus. Clients use the tensile test data to specify materials and to design parts capable of withstanding application force.

Tensile testing provides quality control checking of polymeric materials. The physical properties of many materials, thermo-plastics for example, vary depending on ambient temperature. In such cases the labs test materials at temperatures that simulate the intended end-use environment.
